Over the past few weeks Year 6 have been working on their DT projects reflecting ‘Make Do and Mend’.
‘Make do and Mend’ was a scheme introduced by the government to encourage people to revive and recycle worn-out clothes in times of harsh rationing. In WW2, Christmas luxuries were especially hard to come by so gifts for children were often homemade using recycled materials.
In response to this Year 6 were set the following criteria:
- Make a children’s game using scrap material
- It should be attractive to your target market
- It should include resources for two players
After receiving the criteria the children set about designing and making their games-they learnt running stitch and blanket stitch.
After completing their games the children evaluated how successfully they had met their criteria. Well done Year 6!
