Can we trust everything we read online?
That is a very important question!
Sometimes we see ‘news stories’ and on adverts, youtube videos, pop ups on social media and unofficial blogs.
How can we check that a news source is trustworthy? Let’s make a class checklist-along with me and Mrs Healy we should have 28 tips in our checklist!

Check if there is a padlock on the top left of the screen to make sure the website is secure.

This shows that you can’t believe the news media, or anywhere online, so you trust the side you believe in.

6. Contact directly to the official website and ask if they uploaded the news. If it isn’t possible, contact the authorities and ask if the website is official.
Check with an adult to see if it is secure and also look at top left corner of your screen and you will see a lock to find if it is secure. Also go on website’s that is secure to check the information .
Ask people about what they think, and what their opinions are. This gives you new sides of the story that you might not have thought about before.

You could ask an adult around you or check on other websites to see if they say the same about the news.
Ask an adult and make sure you are getting information from a legitimate and secure website.
If in doubt about the person you’re talking to, always tell someone, anyone. If you feel they’re lying to you about their identity and or age then it is very important to tell an adult or a friend. They can help you to find the real person and if they are lying or not so it does not put you in danger of telling for your real identity or preventing them from asking you to meet them in person.

Always check if there is a camera. If there is a camera, block it so that know one can see you.
