Workbook: 6A
Chapter: 2 Four Operations with Whole Numbers
Lesson: 18, 19 and 21
Good morning Year 6 and Happy Friday!
Please see the details for today’s lesson above. Today we are going to revisit Factors, Multiples and Prime Numbers.
Factors and multiples are different things but they both involve multiplication:
Factors:
“Factors” are the numbers we can multiply together to get another number-Click here for more information!
Multiples:
A multiple is the result of multiplying a number by an integer (not a fraction).
Prime Numbers:
A prime number is a whole number that cannot be made by multiplying other whole numbers. (if we can make it by multiplying other whole numbers it is a Composite Number)
Challenge/Extension: Please complete worksheets 20 and 22.
Remember, White Rose Maths has daily lessons if you want to do something extra!
Miss Gorick and Mrs Healy xx
Good Morning Miss Gorick and Mrs Healy I have completed the maths pages set.
Super, well done Elly!
Good morning miss ,
I am struggling a bit on the Maths No Problem pages…could you help me understand it more please?
Thank you!
Hi Ariella 🙂 well done for asking me for help!
So a factor are what we multiply to get a number:
e.g. 2 and 3 are factors of 6 because 2×3=6
You can also think of a factor as a number that divides exactly into a number. E.g. factors of 6 are 1, 2, 3 and 6
Whereas multiples are what we get after multiplying a number
E.g. 12 is a multiple of 6 because 6×2= 12
Common factors:
Two numbers may have the same factors (numbers that divide exactly into them)
E.g. factors of 12 and 16 are: 1, 2 and 4
The highest common factor of 12 and 16 is 4.
Common multiples:
Two numbers may have the same multiples (basically numbers in their x table)
E.g. multiples of 5 and 3 are: 15, 30, 45 etc
I hope this helps 🙂 let me know how you get on.
Miss Gorick
Good morning Miss Gorick and Mrs Healy!
I have completed the pages you have set!
Well done Jada!
Hello Miss Gorick!
I finished all the maths no problem pages! I also had a go at the Friday Maths Challenge (https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Family-Challenge-Friday-24th.pdf) from White Rose Maths. I really enjoyed it!
Well done Charles and I’m glad you enjoyed the challenge!
Could I suggest that at the end of the week, you upload a blog where we can say what we think we improved over the week and we get to know what everyone was up to over that week?
P.S.: I didn’t find any blog this could go on so I did it on a random one…
That’s a great idea Charles 🙂
Hello mis! Thankyou for that,it really helped me understand this a lot more!
I have completed the challenge pages.
I have a book which helps me to understand maths subjects such as Factors and Prime Numbers. Thank you for the help!
