To continue their learning of historical events in London, Year 2 have been learning all about the Gunpowder Plot. We learnt that it happened before the Great Fire of London and there was a different king at the time, King James I. Guy Fawkes wanted to use 36 barrels of gunpowder to blow up the Houses of Parliament but thankfully some soldiers discovered the barrels before it was too late. The king then decided to have fireworks to remember the Gunpowder Plot and how the plan failed.
In our History lesson we included all the key facts in our newspaper articles and in Art, we used pastels to make different lines and patterns to create the fireworks we see in the sky!
Now we know why we celebrate Bonfire Night every year!
