Good morning Year 6 and welcome to April!
‘Pinch punch first of the month…’
Here is your Maths Challenge (it’s not an April Fool!)
Congratulations to Luke who was the first person to answer correctly yesterday!
The correct answer was:
The circle has the value 5.
The triangle has the value 8.
The club has the value 6.
Did you get it right?
Use your Home Learning Book to complete your workings out and then write your answer below so I can see it.
Tomorrow morning, I will approve the answers and reveal who completed the challenge first!
Good luck!
Miss Gorick and Mrs Healy 🙂
This is what Mr Chou bought :
10 large eggs 50p each
10 medium eggs 10p each
80 small eggs at 5p each
Large : 15
Medium : 15
Small : 20
Good morning
She buys 10 large eggs 10 medium eggs and 80 small eggs ?
10 large eggs
10 medium eggs
80 small eggs
Large- 14
Medium- 14
Small- 62
Mrs Choy bought 10 large eggs, 10 medium eggs and 80 small eggs.
18 large and small eggs, and 1 medium.
Large eggs – 10=£5
Medium eggs – 10=£1
Small eggs – 80= £4
Total=£10 for 100 eggs
Hi Miss Gorick! I finished all of the maths no problem pages therefore I have none left to do. Please could you tell me what other maths I could do (except the blog) ??
Morning Charles 🙂 you must have been busy! Let me check and then I’ll get back to you.
Ok thank you! ?
I did £10 divided by 2=£5
500p divided by 50=10 large eggs
As two sizes are the same 10eggs times 10p=£1
10+10=20
100-20=80
5 times 80=£4
This makes £5+£4+£1=£10
10 eggs+10 eggs +80 eggs=100 eggs
Hi Miss Gorick?,
I think I found out the answer and it is :
20 large eggs and 20 small eggs!?
Happy April Fools Day!?
10 50p large eggs
10 10p medium eggs
80 5p small eggs
Or maybe you could recommend some exercise books of my level for my mum to order?
Hi Charles, so there are plenty of activities on Mathletics that I have set or if you are after a exercise book to order, I would recommend KS2 CGP ‘stretch’ or ‘advanced level’ Maths books. I hope that helps 🙂
Hi Charles, also look at this link https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/ where you will find daily online lessons for Year 6 children 🙂
Well done Charles.
Miss Gorick I have finished my maths tests, are there any more to do?
Well done Aryan, great work! For now, look on Mathletics where you will see I’ve set lots of Maths tasks for you to do. I would start with the 4 operations and then move onto fractions, decimals and percentages 🙂
sorry miss gorick i meant:
L=10- cost =500p
M=10-cost=100p
S=80-cost=400p
and these are the answers
Hello miss could you also recommend some maths for me?
Hi Jeanne, great to hear from you. Yes, so firstly I would recommmend looking at Mathletics as I have set many tasks for you to do.
Also, White rose maths have daily online lessons for Year 6 children. These lessons include a video and activities. Check the link https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/
I hope that helps!
Good afternoon Miss Gorick!
I have finished all my maths and comprehension, please could you suggest some exercise books for me?
Hi Jada, I would recommend KS2 CGP ‘stretch’ or ‘advanced level’ Maths and comprehension books. I hope that helps ?
I finally did it!
Hi miss Gorick,
I am a bit confused on how to do this question. Are you able to help me?
Hi Ariella, thank you for asking 🙂 so basically £10 is equivalent to 1000p (10×100) and you have to make 1000 using 50, 10 and 5. But it says in the question ‘for two of the sizes she bought the same number’ so for example you might work out:
50×10=500
10×10=100
And then you would see how many 5s go into 400 (the remainder)
I hope that helps…a little! 🙂
Thank you Miss Gorick!
Yes ,that actually helps out…ALOT!
I think I now understand!
Thankyou!!
