Good morning Class 4!
Welcome to your second week of online learning!
This week there will be a slight difference to the maths challenges… I will be approving your comments on the maths questions at the end of the day so that you can all have a go at the challenge without seeing any one else’s answers!
But don’t worry, I will still post the answers the following day, along with who was first to answer correctly!
Remember… You still need to explain your working clearly!
Here is Friday’s answers:
And now for today’s challenge…
Good luck!

1+11+13=25
7+13+5=25
3+7+15=25
19+1+5=25
21+3+1=25
Thank you!
monkey 1=9 nuts
monkey 2=9 nuts
monkey 3=7 nuts
9+9+7=25
or
monkey 1=11
monkey 2=7
monkey 3=7
11+7+7=25
or
monkey 1=5
monkey 2=11
monkey 3=9
5+11+9=25
or
monkey 1=9
monkey 2=15
monkey 3=1
9+15+1=25
Good William, but check your first and second combination of answers. The question says each monkey ate a different number of peanuts. Can you think of some different combinations?
1×5=5
5+11=16
16+9=25
According to my working out, one monkey has 5 nuts. One has 11 nuts. And one has 9 nuts.?
9+9+7=25
5+5+15=25
7+7+11=25
23+1+1=25
19+3+3=25
Yes, these calculations do add up to 25 but read the question carefully. It says all of the monkeys ate a different number of nuts. Can you think of some different combinations?
5,19,1
3,17,5
15,9,1
13,7,5
11,9,5
17,7,1
Hi, miss Lee? (why does the weekend have to end already???

Key: ?=1 monkey and ?=1 nut
Great Vincent!
Check your third answer, does this add to make 25?

Good Emilie, but read the question carefully. It says all of the monkeys ate a different number of nuts. Do all of your answers show this?
One monkey ate 20 nuts another ate 3 nuts and another ate 2 nuts.
(All of the ones I can think of,would take a hour to write so here’s just some of them.)

17+3+5=25
15+3+7=25
13+7+5=25
11+9+5=25
9+15+1=25
7+1+17=25
5+1+19=25
?Here’s my answers:
1. 5 + 17 + 3 = 25
2. 5 + 13 + 7 = 25
