Good Morning Year 6! Yesterday marked the beginning of the summer term and normally we would be in full swing preparing for our SATs and then starting the production.
You all worked so hard and I know that you would have done brilliantly in your SATs!
Fingers crossed that we will still be able to do a production; Mrs Healy, Mr Rees and I will do all we can! In preparation for this, I would like you to conduct a project looking into ‘The History of Theatre’.
Can you create a timeline in your Home Learning Books which outlines key developments in the ‘History of Theatre’? It is up to you how you want to structure your research:
Perhaps you could focus on a famous playwright such as William Shakespeare?
Or perhaps you could focus on the history of one of London’s famous theatres such as The Old Vic or the National Theatre?
Finally, maybe you could look overseas and focus on the history of Ancient Greek Theatre? This video offers a brief introduction.
Complete your work in your Home Learning Books and then include one interesting fact below!
Good luck and we look forward to reading your responses 🙂

Child-friendly search interfaces such as Kidrex: www.kidrex.org
or primaryschoolict: http://primaryschoolict.com/
or Swiggle http://www.swiggle.org.uk/
Infant Encyclopaedia: http://infant.parkfieldprimary.com/
I will try to do this work to the best of my ability.
Hi Timothy 🙂 it is great to hear from you! I look forward to hearing how you get on. Good luck!
Morning everyone!I cant wait to start this!it looks very interesting and it will 100% be soo much fun!
Hi Miss! If you remember, when we used “child-friendly” kidrex at school, it was just Google with a different style. We were directed to normal sites and there were ads.
I think I will do a lime lime about the national theatre!
I mean time line!
Also I have finished my re search and apparently every Thursday they have a live production last weeks was treasure island and it was amazing!
Hi Miss I completed the task!!!
?
I have all of my fingers crossed you can still do your production year 6!!!
Fact: Did you know that when the Globe was rebuilt, they didn’t have anything to help them design the interior of the theatre. So, they borrowed design ideas from another theatre of the Tudor time, The Swan.
That’s really interesting Anahi! Have you ever visited the Globe?
Miss Gorick and Mrs Healy, I’m writing about the ancient Greek theatre and I found out the Greek theatre was held in the open areas and the shape of the stage was semi-circular. The aim was to make the audience could watch and hear well. Besides, the stage could accommodate more than 18,000 spectators.
18,000 spectators!! That is so many people!
I concentrated on ancient Greek theatre.
Did you know that in ancient Greek play there was never more then three actors?
That’s interesting Gaspard. Do you know why?
Hello miss! I have done a timeline describing the progress of roman thaeatre and the progress of Greek theatre.
I am studying William Shakespeare
Here are one of my facts !
Did you know that only men were allowed to play girls weren’t allowed ????
Thank you for your super facts! 🙂
I really hope you will get to do your production Year 6 and if we do get back to school in time to do it, I will help Miss Gorrick and Mrs Healy and Mr Rees. Before I worked in the office I worked in year 6 for many years so I have worked on a lot of productions and I will be more than happy to help you. I hope you had a lovely Easter I miss you all. Keep well x
Great to here from you all, I really hope we will be back so we can do a show fingers crossed x x
