You may have noticed that the faces on 3D shapes are always 2D shapes. Today we are going to be looking at the different 2D shapes that make up the 3D shapes.
Have a look at the In Focus task. If you have a printer, it could be helpful to print these shapes off, cut them out and then fold them along the edges to create the 3D shape. If you don’t, ask your grown up to look up the net of a 3D shape and see if they can make one for you (I find the cube the easiest to make!)
Work through the worksheet and then get your grown up to mark your work.
*If you want some help, try and make the nets of the shapes shown, fold them up and see which 3D shapes they make. It is much easier to answer questions on 3D shapes when we can hold them! Click here for a cube net.
*If you have finished your work, then have a go at this lesson to see if you can identify 2D shapes on the faces different 3D shapes.
We have some magnet shapes “magnet formers” at home so this was lots of fun building.
Oh brilliant! I’m glad you had them to help.
Miss I have finished my work and it was so easy and fun.
Well done, I’m glad you had so much fun!
I did the workbook with my Dad and we also played with my magformers and made 3D shapes with them, just like Finley. I now know the difference between a pyramid and a prism.
I’m glad you had fun making shapes with your dad!
Lessons completed and it is become more familiar.
I enjoyed this
We completed today’s maths ? . It is good to keep looking at the shapes and the names -they are becoming more recognisable and familiar.
Hi Miss!
We finished our math practice and cut out shapes to make 3D solids.
We finished todays maths. It was fun.
We also did the BBC challenge questions. The second one was tricky.
Well done for doing the challenge!
I enjoyed making 2d and 3d shapes with my wooden bricks.
Dear Miss Carruthers,
I made up 3D shapes using magnets this morning and it was fun. I finished my work too.
It was really fun!!
I’ve completed the exercises and worksheets for today. It was fun and and easier to see how the 2D shapes become 3D shapes from folding them. ????
Brilliant work everyone! ⭐️ I’m glad you all enjoyed making some 3D shapes!
Dear miss Carruthers,
I have finished my maths blog today. It was really fun!
