Good morning Year 5
Today you will continue to apply your knowledge of place value to solve more problems. You may have completed these in class but it is okay – we need to revisit and consolidate this learning.
Have a look at this question:
You could write these numbers down and cut them out to help you by moving them around.
To solve this problem I would ask myself:Β
What is the smallest number I can create above 10 000? What is the largest? What are the three largest numbers that are possible with the given digits? What are the three smallest?Β
Your answers may vary, like so (carefully read how they worked it out):
Reminder:
When comparing two or more numbers, you should first count the number of digits in each number.
Whole numbers with more digits in them are greater than numbers with fewer digits. This is because the more digits a whole number has, the more place values it includes and the larger the number becomes.
