Today we are going to be looking at how our multiplication number sentences link with the division number sentences to make number families! Often children find division hard or intimidating, but if you can spot the links to your times tables, then they’ll be much easier!
A number family is where you can make 4 number sentences using just 3 related numbers. Have a look the example below which uses 2, 5 and 10.
There are two multiplication number sentences, and two division number sentences.
Have a go, reading through the text book before attempting the worksheet.
Remember:
- With multiplication, the biggest number is the answer.
- With division, the biggest number is always at the start.
*If you are finding this hard, it might be good to keep practising your times tables. Print out these cards to play a game to help you practise them.
*If you have finished the worksheet, play this game to help you practise even more. You should make sure it is on the pink option and click the first option.
