Good Morning Year 2!
Click here for a printable version of this blog: Wednesday RE printable
This is our last lesson in our topic about Pentecost. We’ve covered some really important Bible stories. Can you remember which ones?
We learnt about Jesus rising from the dead. Then, how he then ascended into Heaven. Finally, how he sent the Holy Spirit during Pentecost.
The amazing gift that God has given us is the Holy Spirit, and it is always with us in our hearts.
The Holy Spirit helps us in our lives. St. Paul wrote to the Christians living in Rome when they were getting ready for his visit. He was encouraging them because it was quite difficult being a Christian at that time. He told them how the Holy Spirit helps people. This is what he said:
We don’t always find it easy to be good or to do the right thing but, like the Christians living in Rome, we can ask the Holy Spirit to help us, so we can pass on the Good News by our kindness and goodness. We can think of people who are good and kind who show us the Good News of God’s love.
The Good News is that the Holy Spirit helps us share God’s love by the way we live our lives.
Can you draw a picture, it could be one big picture or lots of little pictures, showing the Holy Spirit helping you. Here are some ideas:
- You might like to draw a picture of something you find hard to do and then another picture of how the Holy Spirit might help you.
- The Holy Spirit fills us with joy, love and peace. You could draw a picture of you sharing joy, love or peace to someone else.
- If you don’t want to draw a picture, you could write some ideas on the blog about how you could share joy, love or peace with someone else.
Please send in your beautiful drawings – make them nice and colourful! I can’t wait to see them.
When you have finished you could say this prayer with your family:
We read the parader and did some singing. My mum sent the picture to you.
Well done for drawing a picture of the Holy Spirit as a dove with some words to say what it does.
Can you give an example of when the Holy Spirit could help you share love to someone?
I made a picture of the Holy Spirit as a dove. We have a book of Picasso’s drawings and I drew mine after his dove of peace and then painted a blue sky.
I love your dove of peace, and your blue sky certainly makes me feel peaceful. When does the Holy Spirit help you to feel peaceful?
Miss I have finished my work and blogs and my mum is going to send a picture of my work.
What a beautiful picture Marisa! I love the care you took to make it so colourful. When does the Holy Spirit help you to feel more loving?
Whenever I am worried, upset or stressed, the Holy Spirit helps me to become calm.
I’m so glad the Holy Spirit helps you Kristian.
Well done Isabella and Emilia. I’m so glad you have the Holy Spirit to help you share with and love the people in your family. It is so special to feel that.
Catherine, what a lovely picture of the Holy Spirit helping you to care for others. I love it!
You can spread peace, love and joy by being good and listening to God’s holy words. Jesus is an example of being good to the poor, helping sick people and sometimes even people who can’t walk.
You can do it also by following rules and setting an example for other people who don’t know what to do.
What a wonderful answer Nadine! It can sometimes be hard to do, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can all get better at make good choices.
Well done Rafael. You have managed to show the flames from Pentecost and the Holy Spirit bringing peace. When have you needed the Holy Spirit to bring you peace?
What a lovely drawing Joshua. I’m so glad the Holy Spirit helps you to be kind and loving when you play with your sister.
I am showing love by visiting my granny ??and waving? through the window of the hospital?? . The Holy Spirit is helping the doctors?⚕️ care for her ❤️??.
What a wonderful way to show love to those we care about at this time.
Some lovely pieces of artwork here Year 2 showing how the Holy Spirit helps you. Well done.
