Workbook: 6B

Chapter: 13 ‘Position and Movement’

Lesson: 5 and 6 ‘Reflections and Translations’

Read through the lesson and look at the tasks set at the bottom of the page.

Also, the extension task is for everyone! So please challenge yourself and have a go! Remember, the blog is there to ask any questions so please ask away 🙂

Today we are looking at ‘translating’ and ‘reflecting’ shapes.

In geometry translation means moving a shape into a different position, without changing it in any way.

Your starting point is the red dot on the yellow truck. Can you describe the translation required to complete the following actions?

  • Yellow to blue
  •  Yellow to green
  • Yellow to red

e.g. Left 4, up 3

Reflecting shapes

Reflecting is when you reflect a shape along a mirror line.
