Good Morning, Nursery.
I hope you have had a lovely weekend. Well done for all of your hard work in Maths last week.
Today, we are going to play the memory game that we played a few weeks ago. Because you were all so good at it, today I am making it a bit trickier!
Choose 5 different small objects and put them on a tray or on the table so that you can see them. Talk about what you have chosen to help you to remember what is there.
Next, cover up the objects with a towel.
Now, can you remember how many objects are under there?
Can you remember which objects are under there? How many are there?
Next, ask a grown up to take one object away and show you which one they have taken.
Can you remember which objects are still under the towel? How many are there now?
When you’ve had a few turns you can swap with your grown up. Take away objects and ask your grown up to say what is still under the towel.
If you are finding it tricky to find the answers, try the activity with fewer objects until you get more confident. If you are finding it very easy, try the activity with more objects.

This is one of Hermine’s favourite game. We made it a bit more challenging and used 10 objects. Hermine was really good at it and could list all of them without a mistake. We also took out 3 objects randomly and she was able to remember them.

This game was fun! I was trying to sneak a look under the towel, but Mummy wouldn’t let me. I remembered straight away that there were 5 things – a lemon, a straw, a zebra, a pen and a spoon.
Mummy took away the straw and then there were 4 things left. Then like magic she took away the spoon and then the lemon.

Esmeralda chose a lipstick, toy’s sock, a plastic egg, a castanet and a bracelet.
After practising several times, we added up two more objects. A toy’s shoe and spring.
Esmeralda had a lot of fun remembering the missing objects

Alexander enjoyed the exercise. We used 8 objects and he was able to remember the objects that were removed from the tray. It was fun!

We tried with 8 objects and Fiadh remembered correctly what had been removed. She loves playing the memory game with her monster snap cards and has a great memory for matching the pairs- much better than Mummys memory!

Ania chose five toys, she knew there were five, and when I covered them, she tried to remember them. When I took one toy Ania had to think about which ones were left, but she answered and we did it several times. Ania had a good time, but she was not as confident as in previous tasks.
We will play this game more often

Philip and Florence played this game together whilst eating their lunch. We used 7 things as a happy medium!

I have tried numerous times with different toys but Grace has refused to do this today after doing her phonics, not sure why. I will save it for another day! Really sorry 🙁
