Good Morning, Nursery.

Well done for all of your hard work in phonics yesterday.

Today, we are going to practice some writing.

Listen to the story of Farmer Duck on the video (can you guess who is reading it?) or read the book if you have it.

Did you like the story? Why?

Here are some of the characters from the story.

Which sound can you hear at the beginning of each word?

Can you point at the beginning letter?

Can you write the beginning letter?

Can you try to copy the whole word?

If you are finding this very easy, you could try to write the letters or the words without copying them.

I am looking forward to seeing your writing about one of my favourite stories today.
Love from Miss Siswick

PRINTABLE VERSION:N Phonics Friday

It would really help me if you could upload photos  straight to the media file (instructions are here: sharing photos and files) as they get to me more quickly and easily as they don’t have to go via the office and my e-mail. Please can either your child’s name or face (but not both) be visible on any photos. Many thanks.

  1. Good morning Miss Siswick!
I like the story but I don’t understand why the farmer is lazy. I thought he was sick. Can you tell me why?
    Thank you

  2. Miss Siswick says:

Great writing, Gabriel. I think that the farmer is just a lazy man because he would rather stay in bed and get the duck to do all of the work!

  3. Grace said it’s Miss Siswick reading the story which she liked very much. She felt that the ‘poor duck was very tired’ and she said she liked it ‘when the animals chased the lazy farmer away’.
She recognised the sound at the beginning of each word and also made the actions for the sound. She pointed to the beginning letter and copied the words – some letters like F might need more practice! Then we found her farm sticker book and wrote the words again under the picture stickers :))

  4. Miss Siswick says:

It was me, Grace! I am glad that you enjoyed the story. Great writing, well done.

  5. Good morning Miss Siswick,

Thank you for the lovely story. I really enjoyed it! The animals had a plan to catch the lazy farmer and throw him out of bed and they chased him and he never came back ever again. He got fat in bed. The animals were kind to the duck because they helped her do the hard work. The farmer made the duck do all the hard work he wasn’t nice. The duck was happy he didn’t come back ever again. I am going to practice writing the words now.
