Good Morning, Nursery.

I hope that you all had a lovely half term.

Well done for all of your hard work in Maths last term.

Today, I would like you to play your favourite board game with a grown up. It can be any game but it must be one where you use dice.

Play the game as you would normally play it.

Can you recognise how many spots there are on the dice without counting them all?

Can you count carefully when playing the game so that you make the right number of moves? (No cheating allowed!)

Can you shout, ‘Happy Birthday to me!’ every time anyone rolls the number that is your age?

If you have time to play the game more than once, you could record how many times each person won. You could play with two dice to make the counting more challenging.

Have fun! I am looking forward to hearing all about your favourite games.

Love from Miss Siswick. (I will be at school so I will not be able to respond until  later today.)

PRINTABLE VERSION:N Maths Monday

It would really help me if you could upload photos  straight to the media file (instructions are here: sharing photos and files) as they get to me more quickly and easily as they don’t have to go via the office and my e-mail. Please can either your child’s name or face (but not both) be visible on any photos. Many thanks.

    Good morning Miss Siswick,
Alexander played a game of monopoly. He recognised the spots on the dice and also correctly counted them. He was able to make the right number of moves when rolling the dice and enjoyed playing the game.

  5. Adelaide says:

Adelaide said that the spots on the dice were ten, but then she wanted to count them and she discovered it was twenty one spots!

Adelaide said 11 times “happy birthday to me” as she got eleven times a four.

And of course she won the game, we were playing Ludo with horses but because it was a long game and she moved all the four horses we didn’t play anymore of it, but it was really fun!
