Good Morning, Nursery.
Our new topic is:
I loved hearing what you already know about minibeasts and what you are looking forward to finding out more about.
Today, can you tell me the names of any of these minibeasts?
Can you draw your favourite one and tell us about it?
Have you thought of any more questions about the topic?
I am looking forward to hearing all about it.
Love from Miss Siswick. (I will be at school so I will not be able to respond until later today.)
PRINTABLE VERSION: N Topic Thursday
Good morning, Grace drew pictures of mini beasts. Her favourite today is the butterfly and the ladybird because they are so pretty!
Grace wrote the names and coloured them in.
She would like to know what they eat.
I love your pictures and your writing, Grace. Well done.
Also we saw a stag beetle on our walk yesterday. Please see picture! 🙂
What a beautiful beetle you found, Grace. It is so shiny!
Good morning Miss Siswick,
My favourite minibeast is butterfly. I have made a drawing of a butterfly and a caterpillar. The caterpillar builds a cocoon and then goes to sleep and turns into a beautiful butterfly.
Well done, Hermine. I love the way that you have used the pencil sharpenings for your picture.
Good Morning Miss Sisweek.
I could spot a spider, a ladybug, a dragonfly and ants (we saw plenty at home).
Leopold likes the dragonfly but he is afraid of scorpions and spiders.
He is going to draw a dragonfly.
Well done, Leopold. I am scared of scorpions and spiders as well!
Philip’s favourite Minibeast is a Fly. “Because flys are very small.”
Philip wants to know “how does a fly be born?”
Well done, Philip. I love your minibeast collage.
Eloisa painted a picture of a bee. Her favourite book used to be BumbleBear about a bear who wanted to become a bee to get to their honey stores.
She also likes ladybugs and butterflies and worms and snails, pretty much all the creatures out there. But she would like to learn more about how caterpillars become butterflies.
Well done, Eloisa. I love your bee painting.
Hello Miss Siswick,
I can see butterflies, ladybirds, scorpions.
Yesterday I found a butterfly in the garden with a broken wing. I have been looking after if feeding it lettuce and honey water. It can still walk and is climbing up the kitchen window. My mummy looked it up on the internet and it is not a butterfly but a cinnabar moth. It is red and black and very beautiful. I am going to draw a picture of it and send it to you.
Well done, Fiadh. That is so kind of you to look after the moth. Grace wanted to know what butterflies. Maybe they also like to eat lettuce and drink honey water like your moth.
We recognised (we think)
Ladybird, butterfly, grasshopper, centipede, caterpillar, spider, dragonfly, and a cockroach. James’s favourite minibeast is a bee.
James wants to learn what they eat.
We will send our drawing.
Well done, James. I love your bee drawing. You look stripy like a bee today!
Caspian recognised most of the Mini beasts in the picture .
The grasshopper is my favourite because he has strong legs and and can jump far .
Well done, Caspian. I usually like grasshoppers too but once I saw an enormous one and I was a bit scared of it!
Ania recognise caterpillars, spider ant, bee, butterfly, ladybug.
Her favorite is a butterfly because they are beautiful and colorful.
Well done, Ania. I like butterflies too. I saw a tiny blue one yesterday.
Alexander chose a butterfly. He says the butterfly is beautiful and it flies away.
Well done, Alexander. I think butterflies are beautiful too. I love your picture.
Hello, the favorite minibeasts of Victoire is the butterfly.
I like butterflies too, Victoire.
Hello Miss Siswick,
My favourite minibeast is an ant because it can climb and it can hide very well. Nicolas recognised the following animals: ladybird, spider, ant, butterfly, caterpillar, Flip (grasshopper from Biene Maja) and a bee.
Greetings from Nicolas
Well done, Nicolas. I had a lot of ants in my kitchen for a few weeks but I am glad that they have gone somewhere else now!
