We are practicing hearing and saying the sounds that we have learnt at the beginning of words.
Look at the pictures and say the words; violin, x-ray, wall
Can you hear and say the sound at the beginning of each word?
Can you do the action for the sounds?
Can you think other words that also begin with the sounds?
Can you find the sounds on the phonics mat?
Grace was very excited to write her letters on a Frozen board.
She said the sounds and made the actions for V, W and X from the phonics mat.
Van, vole, vulture and vet
Wall, wave, walrus, worm, water, warm, wind, window and win
X-ray and xylophone but also that X sound is at the end of the words fox, fix and box 🙂

Alexander got on well with his phonics task this morning. he came up with a few words with the starting sounds of V, W and X, I was surprised to hear him come up with Vehicle for V… we however both found X a bit tricky…
Well done, Alexander. X is a bit tricky to find at the beginning of words, I agree. It is mainly found at the end of words or in the middle like in your name!
Philip thought of vampire bat, whale and X-ray. He drew pictures of all these things and tried writing the sounds.
