  1. Dear Bear and Rabbit,
how are you? Two days ago I have arrived in Egypt! it took me over 20 days, but I am finally here. I have flown over Italy! Egypt is so much different than our forest. It is full of sand, people and other birds, which just like me escaped cold weather (and beavers!).

  2. Miss Jones says:

A good start Helena! As you continue your writing, remember to describe Egypt and the spectacular sights!

  3. Wood pecker ( Clémence ) says:

    Dear Bear and rabbit,

I miss you so much but I’m having such a lovely time down here south. I met a lady woodpecker, she had beautiful silk red feathers! And a lovely shiny beak! She said her name was Lady Woodpecker. We had love at first sight! We walked to the beach ?and I had a sunburn!! Owwwwcccchhhhhyyyyy! I ran as fast as I could into the water and I saw…A LOBSTER ???!! I screamed HEEELP!! then the Lobster snapped me with his Claws YIKES!! He did it again DOUBLE YIKES!! I tried to bite him back and he said “back off!” In a muffled voice “your sitting on me!!” I stepped to the side oh ummm I’m very sorry I said. He took off the dust and suddenly he sneezed ? Aa Aa Aa ACHOOOO! I and Lady Woodpecker flew away along with the sand, right now I’m having a nap in a nice tree with Lady Woodpecker.

    I miss you!

  5. Dear rabbit and bear
Here in the South, we have lots of fun everyday. Everyone can play including me. Hopefully I won’t be cold but anyway there’s no chance because it’s really really hot here ! The good news is that for the winter, some other kind of birds made me a brand new nest ! We always sunbathe, here it’s as hot as a desert and the sun always shines. It’s so perfect here ! Sadly I can go flying with the other birds but I’m sure my feathers will grow back soon. Hope you’re ok and you get your honey every day .
    Love from Woodpecker xx
    PS : I miss you .

  7. Hello Miss Jones.

    Dear Bear and Rabbit,

On the way to the south I met a friend and we soon got into a conversation about the journey and how nice the south is. I took many pauses along the way close to lakes so that I could eat.

  8. Miss Jones says:

A good start Matthias, as you continue your writing include lots of description about the lakes you visited and other places you saw.

  9. Sebastian says:

    Dear Bear and Rabbit,
I had such a scary day. I was flying over the sea, it felt as if I had flown 8 trillion kilometres! I was VERY tired, I fell asleep but my wings were still open and I was only gliding. I was losing height quickly. Suddenly I opened my eyes halfway, my wing was skimming the water. In the distance I saw two strange looking birds, one with an unusual looking beak and the other with weird shaped wings.
They swooped down! The first one to catch me was the one with the weird looking beak, then the one with the odd wings said: “that’s MY flying fish!” the other said :”this tastes weird” and he spat me out.
I think he realised I was a woodpecker and didn’t like the last of me.

He was wearing glasses, so maybe he was shortsighted.
The odd couple introduced themselves, Albert Albatross and Peter Pelican. I will have to tell you about them next time…
I can’t fit it all in on just one post card!

    From Woodpecker
