How many legs do spiders have? Can you find the number card?
Can you draw a spider? Don’t forget to stop drawing legs when you get to 8!
Can you draw the missing legs for these spiders? Don’t forget to stop drawing legs when you get to 8! Count how many legs were missing.
I am looking forward to hearing about and seeing your Maths work today.
Love from Miss Siswick. (I will be teaching at school so I will not be able to respond until later today.)
It would really help me if you could upload photos straight to the media file (instructions are here: sharing photos and files) as they get to me more quickly and easily as they don’t have to go via the office and my e-mail. Please can either your child’s name or face (but not both) be visible on any photos. Many thanks.
Grace drew a spider and gave him 8 legs and wrote lots of 8s.
When it came to the missing legs she needed quite a lot of help to understand how many legs the spider had and how many it needed/ were missing. She enjoyed it though and we’ll try again another time to see if she understands it more next time.
James counted all the missing spider legs fine. Some of his drawings involved 9 spider legs but he then corrected when we recounted. A picture has been sent.
Eloisa’s spiders with missing legs in blue have been posted.
She noticed on the photographs that it looks like some spiders have 10 legs. We looked it up and apparently these are not legs but pedipalps (?) that they use to hold things and prey.
Alexander said the spider has 8 legs and he found the correct number card. He drew a spider with 8 legs and counted the legs as he was drawing.
