Good Morning Year 2!
Click here for a printable version of this blog post: Wednesday English printable
Today we are practising to spell the word ‘kind’ with different endings. I really hope you can all spell these words correctly! You can decorate your words or make them out of something to show the spellings.
As there aren’t many tricky words today, I would like you all to have a go at the Year 2 Common Exception Words. There are lots of words on this list, so take 10 and see if someone can test you on them. Y2 common exception words
On SpellZone, the words have been split into three groups and there are games you can play to practise the different words. Can you spot any spelling patterns or rules?
Let us know if you come up with any good ways to remember some of the words or which ones you find hard to remember.
When you’re practising your handwriting, remember to start and finish your letters in the right place, sit the letters on the line and remember which ones are tall and which ones hang below the line. There is a handwriting guide in your Home Learning Folders to help you if you need it. This BBC Bitesize page has helpful guides and videos to remind you how to form your letters correctly.
Good morning Miss Carruthers,
I did my English homework. It was ok. Photo to follow. Beautiful is hard to remember- we found the sentence: big ears aren’t ugly, they are beautiful. Would you recommend a better way to remember this word? Thank you.
Greetings,
Sophia
Brilliant Sophia! Beautiful is a hard one to remember. I hadn’t heard big ears aren’t ugly, but that could be really useful for others – thank you! 🙂 I don’t have a better way necessarily, but I sound out the start to make sure I have every vowel I need – B-E-A-Utiful. It strangely helps!
Well done for trying to use joined up handwriting Adrien!
I did well on my spelling and common exceptions. Every week we go over a column of the exception words and I have done well.
That’s a really good thing to do each week Layla, I’m glad you are still practising them 🙂 Well done!
Well done Sophie 🙂
I was tested on the long list of words and can do them all, except I missed a letter out of BEAUTIFUL. I thought it was BEATIFUL! I have learned how to spell FRIENDS as well. I used to get the I and the E the wrong way round.
Well done – it is a very long list so I’m very impressed! Beautiful is hard. Read the comments above to see a way that Sophia P learnt to remember beautiful. Friends is tricky too, I split the word in half to remind me and say fri ends. 🙂
I did my handwriting and spellings.?
Great work Jack! Well done 🙂
I have done it.
Well done Vincent 🙂
Don’t forget that when we do a n, we start at the top, go straight down, back up and then round. Don’t start at the bottom and go round. You need to little bit at the top to help you join!
I did my handwriting and spellings.
Well done Rafael! I’m glad you got those tall letters touching the red line 🙂
We did all our spellings.
