We are really looking forward to welcoming all year groups back to school full time from the beginning of the autumn term.
The scientific evidence shows that coronavirus (COVID-19) presents a much lower risk to children than adults of becoming severely ill, and there is no evidence that children transmit the disease any more than adults. Of course, there will still be risks while coronavirus (COVID-19) remains in the community, and that is why schools have been asked to put in place a range of protective measures.
In order to effectively manage the risks that remain, some aspects of school life will be different when children and young people return for the new academic year. The guidance below sets out some of the changes and protective measures the government is asking schools to put in place and what parents, carers, children and young people will need to do to help ensure schools and colleges are as safe as possible for everyone.
Returning to primary school: what parents need to know
Westminster Local Authority also has some useful information for parents on their Back To School website page.
At St. Vincent’s we have written a detailed Risk Assessment based on the guidance to school and this will be reviewed regularly.
In July we wrote a letter to all parents with the initial arrangements to support the return to school.
We have prepared a news post with some ideas for activities that parents can work on during the school holidays to help children to prepare for the return to school and we will also send home some powerpoints and social stories at the beginning of September so they know some of the changes to expect.
We will continue to review all our plans regularly and to communicate any changes to parents. We will also send reminders of key messages. Our website will remain the main source of up to date information and we will also continue to send regular emails.
Please do contact us if you have any questions or concerns-we are here to support you.
