Intent
Our intent is for pupils to develop communication and literacy skills that lay the foundation for future language learning. They develop linguistic competence, extend their knowledge of how language works and explore differences and similarities to English, whilst giving them an insight into their own culture and those of others.

Cultural Capital
Our partner school is called ‘Grundschule Bad Bentheim’. It is the primary school where Miss Siswick’s mother, my uncle and two of her aunts attended in the 1940s and 1950s! Classes in Key Stage 2 at St Vincent’s and Grundschule write letters and postcards to each other in English and German to help practise another language. It also means that the children can understand some of the similarities and differences between growing up in England and Germany.
