The Pupil Chaplaincy team play a vital role in developing the spiritual life of the school. Throughout the year they perform many duties that support the school as a Catholic Community.
Their main roles include tending to the upkeep of the school prayer gardens, leading weaving and daily reflective activities for all key stages during lunch break and helping to prepare for Masses, Processions or Open Mornings. They are the school Caritas Ambassadors and work to promote Catholic Social Teaching across the school.
They meet regularly with Mr Kersys and Miss Walsh, the Religious Education Leaders, to share their ideas and to discuss upcoming events such as special feast days or Masses. They also look after and support classes to look after prayer tables to ensure they are a special focus in the classroom.
Meditation is very important for our spiritual and mental health. Our Pupil Chaplaincy team have done a great job of leading meditation around the school after lunch on a daily basis. They also support classes to pray the Rosary during the month of October and May, as well as reading scripture with pupils during Christmas and Lent to share the Word of God.
One of their most important jobs is ensuring Catholic values are demonstrated in the playground. They encourage everybody at St Vincent’s to be a peacemaker. Children are welcome to talk to them they are feeling lonely at lunch time or if they would like them to lead a prayer session.
