In our History lessons over the last two weeks we have been learning about the Great Fire of London. We found out that on the 2nd September 1666, a fire broke out in Thomas Farriner’s bakery in Pudding Lane. The fire spread quickly as a result of the houses being made from wood. People tried to pour buckets of water over the fire to put it out but it continued to spread. On the 4th September 1666, St Paul’s Cathedral Burnt down and King Charles 11 ordered for the houses to be pulled down to stop the spread.
On the 5th September 1666, the fire eventually stopped.
In our History lesson today, we imagined we were in the year of 1666, when the Great Fire of London started. We wrote our own sequence of diary entries to recount some interesting facts from the historical event. We tried to include key vocabulary in our writing and express our feelings during this difficult time.
