Over the past 3 weeks Year 4 have been focusing on the topic of Fractions and Decimals in Mathematics.
We have enjoyed learning about what fractions are, where we encounter fractions in everyday life and how fractions can be represented in different ways.
To further boost our understanding of fractions Year 4 have learnt how to add and subtract fractions of the same denominator as well as converting fractions into top heavy fractions and mixed number fractions.
Objects and pictures have really helped us to understand concepts such as a half, a quarter and a whole.
Later in the week we looked at decimals and fractions which are equivalent to them.
We learnt that a 1/2 is equal to 0.5, 1/4 is equal to 0.25 and 3/4 is equal to 0.75.
Have a look at all the different ways we found of representing a tenth (0.1) of a whole!
Well done year 4for such fabulous hard work I am 100%sure that you will always remember how to do work out decimal fractions.
Bravo
