Miss Siswick is making a special video assembly and she would like to include the ‘Every Child Has Rights’ song we have been learning in the singing sessions as background music for it. It would be nice to have as many voices from class three, four, five and six as we can on the recording.

We recorded the audio above during the class three and four singing assembly yesterday. Although everyone was singing along from home we were only able to record the ten or so children who were actually at school.

If you would like to add your voice to the recording could you please record yourself singing along to the video above. Once you have done this could you please email the recording to the school office with the subject ‘Recording for Mr Rees’ by the end of MONDAY (8th February). I will then try my best to blend your voice in with the rest of your class.

  • Make sure you sing along with the video so your recording is at the same speed as everyone else.
  • Ideally try to use headphones to listen to the music and use another device to record your voice.
  • An easy way to record it (if someone in your house has an iPhone) is to record using the ‘voice memos’ app. Record yourself and then click on the three dots on the left, choose ‘share’ and email it directly from the app.
  • This is entirely optional. Don’t feel you have to send a recording of yourself in. It is only a bit of fun.
  • Don’t be too harsh on yourself. Very few people like listening to a recording of themselves. Your voice will be blended in with all the other recordings from class 3, 4, 5 and 6 so you won’t stick out.

Here are the words for the song:

Every child has a right to dignity, life and liberty, Justice in the law

Every child has a right to company, friends and family,

With no fear of war

To every child their own identity, nationality, Time to rest and play

To every child of each ability each necessity, Growing from day to day

Children have the right to be healthy, to go to school and learn

And say their prayers in their own religion’s words

Anytime and anywhere around the big wide world

These are the rights of every boy and girl

Every child has a right to safety, free from slavery,

Somewhere to call a home

Every child has a right to security, confidentiality,

Language of their own

To every child responsibility, sensitivity to all the people of Earth

To every child their individuality in diversity,

Knowing each others’ worth

Children have the right to speak and have their voices heard

What’s best for them should be the main concern

Anytime and anywhere around the big wide world

These are the rights of every boy and girl

Anytime and anywhere around the big wide world

These are the rights of every boy and girl

These are the rights of every boy and girl

Yes, these are the rights of every boy and girl
