This week is Art week at St Vincent’s. In previous Art weeks in the summer term, we have welcomed our talented parents to help support our pupils in developing their art skills and produce a class piece of artwork.
This year, we are excited to be working with the October Gallery. Our theme for Art week this year is based around ‘Nature’.
This builds on from Mental Health Awareness week, where we focused on how connecting with the natural world can support good mental health.
All classes will study the artist ‘Rafael Trelles,’ a postmodern artist from Puerto Rico. The October Gallery will lead us on an exciting journey, exploring the artist’s latest exhibition ‘Axis Mundi,’ which will be showcased in the October Gallery on 17th June – 24th July 2021.
His exhibition ‘Axis Mundi’ explores nature and hidden creatures in the environment. Each class will experiment with different skills, incorporating Rafael Trelles’ style and ideas into their own artwork.
The artwork each pupil makes will be carefully curated into a unique whole class artwork piece that will be framed. These will be auctioned in our St Vincent’s auction later in the summer term.
We look forward to sharing all of our learning and artwork with you over the week!
