After working so hard for our assessments last week, it has been wonderful to express ourselves and demonstrate our creativity during Art Week.
Thank you to Miss Jones for organising fabulous workshops with the October Gallery. Kirsty, the Artist taught us about Rafael Trelles who is a postmodern artist from Puerto Rico.
We learnt that Trelles began studying painting at the age of eleven, under the guidance of Spanish painter Julio Yort before moving to the Canary Islands in Spain where he explored mysticism ain art. He developed the technique of combining naturalistic drawings of flora and fauna in ways that suggest overtones of ethereal significance.
By the way, etheral means ‘extremely delicate and light in a way that seems not to be of this world’!
We then learnt art techniques using ink, water, pastels and textured objects to create our own postmodern artwork inspired by Rafael Trelles.
I found this activity really fun!
