Nursery are really enjoying their new Minibeasts topic.
We started out by exploring all of the toy minibeasts using magnifying glasses. We named as many of them as we could and chose our favourites. Then we chose a minibeast and looked at books about minibeasts to see if we could match pictures in the book with our chosen minibeast.
The book teaches all about the life cycle of a caterpillar.
We also looked in non fiction books to find out about more about how a caterpillar changes into a butterfly. In the story the caterpillar spins a cocoon. A cocoon is also called a pupa or a chrysalis.
We talked about the life cycle of a caterpillar and made up a dance to show the stages.
We also made caterpillars and butterflies using new techniques.
We can’t wait to find out more about minibeasts in the next few weeks.
