After another big breakfast we headed out to the nature reserve for our nature walk. Stephanie helped us to identify lots of different trees and explained how they communicate to each other using the ‘wood wide web’. This is a network of underground fungi that links all their roots together and they can change the taste of their leaves so that predators don’t eat them.
In the woods, we stopped to do some activities. We tried to work out how old some of the trees are. Most were about 70 years old but one was 212 years old! Stephanie then gave us tuning forks to see how sound travels through different materials. Then we were blindfolded and had to feel a tree to get to know it before having to guess which tree in the forest we had just hugged! On our way back, we collected a rainbow of colours that we found in the woodland.
We then had a yummy packed lunch on our veranda. Our rooms were getting quite messy so we’re tidying them now ready for a room inspection before our afternoon activities.
I’m glad to see you all having fun despite the wetter weather and I’m really pleased that you are still looking for rainbows!
Really looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. Hope the last night is lots of FUN. 🚍🌲🦆👂✍️🏊♂️🏹⚽️🗺🪓🪥🛏🎉📝💌📮❣️💤📵🇬🇧🎶🎉🚍
