The children enjoyed taking inspiration from cave paintings to generate their own ideas for our ‘cave sewing’ project. First each group discussed the traditional symbols, animals and colours within the different paintings and used them to design their own annotated sketch of a cave painting. Next they discussed what colours would have typically been used in cave paintings and used this to decide what colour fabrics they would need to replicate this style. In our next lesson, the children will transfer their ideas onto fabric and learn how to do a running stitch.
