Year 4 have been working on their netball skills this past half term.
This week the class were developing movement skills to lose a defender.
We began the lesson by warming up!
We jogged around the playground to raise our heart rate, then we completed a series of stretches to help our muscles and finally we played a game by moving cone to cone whilst travelling in different ways.
For the skill development part of the lesson, the children played dodge the gate where the attackers (half of the class) were attempting to run through a set of cones defended by the other half of the class without being caught.
We challenged ourselves by making the gate bigger and trying to see how many gates we could run through in one minute.
We then played a 1 v 1 game where in groups of 3 the attackers attempted to get through the gate and receive a pass without being caught by the defenders.
To practice losing a defender, the children played a 3 v 3 game to put their new skill, and the previous skills we have been learning in P.E.
At the end of the lesson we thought about how we can lose a defender more easily and what to do if we encounter someone from the opposition.
Is it more important to defend or pass the ball?
PE is very fun i realy like it!!!!
