Year 4 had a brilliant World Book Day! We have enjoyed doing so many exciting reading activities today, and sharing all of our favourite books with each other!
All of Year 4 arrived to school dressed as their favourite characters, from their favourite book! You all looked brilliant, and we had so many different characters: Harry Potter and Hermione, Gangster Granny, Dorothy, Matilda, Messi and even Tin Tin was here…
We spent the first part of the morning designing alternative books cover illustrations for books that we were reading in class.
Then later in the morning the children enjoyed a carousel of English activities in Year 4, 5 and 6. We read the Julia Donaldson stories that the teachers were dressed up as for this years theme. Mr Kersys was the goat from The Smartest Giant in Town, Mrs Karney was the Gruffalo from the Gruffalo and Miss Siwick was the Ladybird from What the Ladybird Heard. Year 4 looked worked hard and used their imaginations to create an alternative plot to the Smartest Giant in Town, invented their own characters to add to the Gruffalo and had a go at some creative writing to imagine what the Lady bird might have said to the animals.
In the afternoon KS2 got together for some singing time with Mr Rees. We sang book themed songs, all about how important reading is!
Finally, at the end of the day, we had some very special visitors! Our parents and younger siblings came to our classroom for family reading time! It was so special to welcome all of the parents back into school…Thank you so much for joining us!
Also a big thank you to Miss Jones for organising such a special day for us all! The assembly was brilliant and we loved the parade and seeing all the winners of the Extreme Reading Challenge!
