Our science topic this term is Seasonal Change. We have been learning about the four seasons and the changes that occur to the weather.
Today we learnt that temperature is measured in degrees celsius. At lunchtime we left a thermometer on the roof playground and then we went up there a bit later on to see if we could read the temperature. We predicted the temperature and recorded them on a whiteboard. Our predictions were very close as it was 20 degrees celsius.
We also learnt that the average body temperature is 37 degrees celsius and used our prior learning of warm and cold blooded creatures to help us understand how humans maintain a stable temperature (unless they’re unwell). We learnt that water freezes at 0 degrees.
We then started to record the outside temperature on a bar chart.
Excellent learning today Year 1! I’m glad you love science so much!
