On Tuesday, Year 3 were lucky enough to participate in a workshop provided by the National Portrait Gallery that focused on connecting schools to portraiture and people.
We looked at a range of different portraits of people both recent, and from last centaury that have all come from Westminster and each made history in their own way. For example Bradley Wiggins, Madame Tussauds, Winifred Atwell and Lily Cole. Year 3 loved using the carbon paper to trace over the pictures before using mirrors to draw their own self portraits. After drawing faces, they looked closely at different images of machinery and added some of these in spaces of their faces. Focusing on lines, shapes, and shades to create a half robot look on their portraits.
A huge thank you to Ian and Jo for running the workshop and teaching us some new skills. Everyone absolutely loved it and are very excited to visit the National Portrait Gallery once it reopens to the public.
