This week in Year 4 we have been using our new Maths scheme: Power Maths!
We met the new Power Maths characters who are going to help us on our journey:
Our topic is Place Value-4-digit numbers…We have been learning how to recognise the value of each digit in 4-digit numbers up to 10,000.
We used lots of manipulatives such as base 10, counters and part whole models to create different representations of 3 and 4-digit numbers.
We then learnt how to count in thousands and how to write these numbers. 10,000 was trickier but we discovered that it was 10 and 3 zeros just like 1000!
Later in the week we used pictures in our Power Maths Workbook to read and write 4-digit numbers, match up base 10 representations with numbers and even had a go at a number search!
