This morning, as part of our Religious Education topic about vocation & commitment, Father Philip came to speak to Year 6 .
Before he arrived, we talked about what they would like to find out more about. Year 6 came up with this excellent set of questions, that really showed both their learning and their interest in this topic:
What do you like about being a priest?
How did you get your calling?
How long have you been a priest?
How old were you when you entered the seminary?
What was it like at the seminary?
Was the studying difficult and did you pass first time?
Did you study before you decided to become a priest?
If you had not become a priest, what would you have liked to do?
Would you like to be a bishop one day?
Did you grow up religious?
Is anyone else in your family a priest or a member of a religious order?
Have you ever felt under pressure in your job?
Do you like living a simple life?
Have you celebrated all of the sacraments in your role as a priest?
Did you ever regret becoming a priest?
Apart from Jesus, do you have a role model?
Did you work at the Vatican when you were in Rome?
Why is the Vatican considered a country?
Does a saint have to be Catholic?
Father Philip answered all of these questions and many more and we learned so much more about how he has dedicated his life to God and helping others.

As Father Philip visited year 6, I found it interesting and I got to learn new things that I did not know about. The thing that was the most interesting was when he said that the Pope has to decide if a priest can become a bishop. Year 6 really appreciate you giving up your time and the effort that you put into answering all of our questions.
Thank you Father Philip for spending his time to answer all of our questions. I learnt a lot from him like all saints have to be catholic as I thought that they can be church of England too. I also learnt about his experiences of being a priest and when he was becoming a priest. I even learnt about Father Philip that he met Pope Francis and Pope Benedict XVI.

Father Phillip has a lot of knowledge about being a priest and events of being one. He answered all of the questions we had in a lot of detail. I learnt that in sacraments that need a bishop can be replaced by a priest.
When Farther Philip visited us, it was really interesting to find out all about what it was like to be a priest and the sacrifice you had to make to dedicate your life to your religion. Thank you Farther Philip for coming to see us
It was lovely to have a visit from Father Philip. I learned so much and I am very happy to have had the chance to see him. I never knew about some things we asked but I am very happy to know about this now. Thankyou Father Philip!

He told us it can be a stressful job because people can not have as much patience as he would like so he gets under pressure.
