This term, to support our Anglo-Saxon topic, we used the Bayeaux tapestry (made by the Normans but depicting the Battle of Hastings, a battle involving the Anglo-Saxons) as inspiration for a series of collages. We looked at how the Bayeaux tapestry tells its story and, more importantly, why this was a necessary way of recalling events at the time. Each child was given a different section of the tapestry as their starting point and we made sketches first before experimenting with different materials for the collage. The children worked hard and produced some outstanding collages!
I really enjoyed the time when i was making the tapestery at home and my hands got really sticky with glue
