Every Advent we fund raise for St. Mungo’s. At this cold time of year we think of those without a warm home to sleep in and how we can help them. This year we were sent a special certificate to thank us for our previous fundraising efforts.
At the beginning of December we welcomed Athina from St. Mungo’s to come speak at an assembly to explain the wonderful work that St. Mungo’s does and to help us to understand how the money raised will be used.
We had planned to sing Christmas carols in St. Christopher’s Place, sharing our talents, bringing joy to many and fundraising for this valuable cause. Unfortunately it was so exceptionally cold and so many of us were poorly with winter bugs that we had to cancel the outdoor event and instead held a Christmas Jumper Day and Own Clothes Day.
With an awareness that many homeless people have no choice by to be outdoors in these extreme conditions we decided to make an extra special efforts-and as always the St. Vincent’s family rose to the challenge.
Together we collected an amazing £860!
This week we received a special message from St. Mungo’s.
It is amazing to see how we all took part to help the homeless to have a good Christmas and it puts smiles on everyone’s faces.
