We had a fantastic surprise on Friday in our Music lesson, Mr Hylton showed us a new musical instrument – boomwhackers!

They are different coloured tubes that are tuned to make the sound of different musical notes. We had such a fun lesson learning how to use the boomwhackers, and the difference between the tubes.

We looked at the different lengths of the boomwhackers, and the different colours and learnt what notes they make. Then we looked at a video, where the different colours are played whilst following a beat.

Nursery practiced following this video, watching for their colour and trying to follow the beat. Then Nursery sat in groups of their colours, this helped them to follow the beat and take their turn so well!

Mr Hylton, Miss Walsh, Mrs Knowler and Mrs Pereira were so impressed with how quickly Nursery took on the challenge of learning how to play these new instruments, and how sensibly they did so. This was such a fun lesson, and Nursery all tried very hard to concentrate and play their colour at the right time and on the beat. Well done!

Your music class looks like so much fun nursery. I’ve never heard of boomwackers before. I hope you enjoyed learning how to play them.
