This week we have been busy exploring the indoor and outdoor environment for Science Week 2023!
This year’s Science Week theme is ‘Connections.’ We have been learning about how connections are made between people, plants, animals and other things in our everyday lives.
On Monday, Miss Carruthers launched Science Week by leading a special assembly with Professor Pitty. Professor Pitty showed us some very interesting experiments with bubbles, balloons and toothpaste!
After assembly, we had a fun workshop with Professor Pitty who helped us all make slime! It was interesting to find out all about the different ingredients we needed to make it.
Today, we developed our learning about plants to build on our learning all about seasons.Β We used our instructions we wrote in last week’s writing lesson to help us recap on the steps involved in planting a seed. We planted our own ‘cress’ seeds and we can’t wait to water them and observe them each day!
We have also been developing our communication and language in our EYFS Garden Centre. We have been building on our vocabulary of plants, garden tools and equipment. We can’t wait to visit Clifton Nurseries garden centre next week!
Thanks Miss Carruthers for organising some fun activities for Science Week 2023!
Looks like you guys had a lot of fun with the slime and plant plots.

Well done Reception, you did a really good job!
Wow reception, it does look like you had a lot of fun. I really like gardening I hope you
like it to! I hope you enjoy visiting Clifton Nurseries garden centre next week! I bought plants for my house there with my dad, it is a really beautiful shop with beautiful plants.
I had so much fun making my slime. It was so much fun when we mixed the slime. I chose cherry red, I love the colour. Thank you Professor Pitty for organising this wonderful Science Day, it was so much fun. I liked the bit when Professor Pitty put the ingredients together to make the elephants toothpaste. I also enjoyed the bit when Professor Pitty chose two people to help her get the balloon across the hall, it was so much fun! π©βπ¬π¬π₯ΌποΈ
