In Maths this week, we have been learning about position and direction. We looked at key vocabulary to describe position and directions (clockwise, anti-clockwise, right, left, quarter turn, half turn), which links to our recent learning on time!
We started by learning about our left and right, and considered ways to help us remember this. We then practised different turns in the classroom, using these. We then used these skills to play a position and direction game of robot and controller. The controller had to give clear directions for the robot to get to the treasure. We were able to independently used the correct language to successfully move around the space. We then tried to use this new knowledge and understanding when answering a range of questions, which are the type of questions that we might see within a test.
We now feel much more confident in understanding direction and how we can think back to our knowledge of telling the time to help us with this.
I enjoyed this cool way of learning. The robot and controller game was fun too!
