In our DT lessons we’ve been learning all about information design. We began our sessions by looking at some signs we see that help share information. We shared what we noticed, as well as what looked nice and what did not.
After this we learned that we would be making electrical informational posters about Ancient Egypt based off all we have learned in class! We each designed two different mini posters for our chosen topics, then we worked with our group to combine ideas into a shared poster. We knew we needed to have a title, picture and information about the topic. We also had to think about our layout as well.
Once we made our final posters it was time to assemble the electrical bits! We were given a bulb and holder, crocodile wires and a battery to attach to the back. This bit was the tricky part, as some of our wires or bulbs were not working! We learned a new word called troubleshoot, which means analyzing a problem to figure out how to solve it.
After this we had the chance to present our finished posters to parents as part of our Museum End of Topic Celebration. This week, we’ve looked at our posters and analyzed what went well and what we would change the next time. We really impressed our teacher with our teamwork and cooperation!
This was so fun! I really hope year 2 enjoys this as much as we do! Good luck Y2!
