This half term in Year 5, we are doing football. In today’s lesson, we focused on passing and the technique required to pass the ball with accuracy. The children learned the importance of using the inside of the foot to control the direction and the strength of the pass. Working in small groups, the children practised passing the ball to each other and they developed their accuracy by aiming to knock a tennis ball off the top of a cone. Working in teams, the children earned points for each time they knocked the ball off the cone.
Once we were confident the children were comfortable with the skills, we organised them into small matches of 3 v 3. The aim was to score as many goals as possible but the focus was on passing the ball to teammates and the challenge was to pass the ball accurately under pressure from an opponent.
I bet the football was good year 5 and looking forward to seeing you play.

You all are having a great time scoring goals. PE is amazing!

This was a very fun PE lesson! Thank you for the teachers who arranged this.
I had lots of fun doing PE and my favourite part was tying to kick the ball from the cone and also the hardest bite was when the teams were tackling the ball but it was still fun.

We had so much fun playing football and my favourite part was the matches at the end. I was on a team with Errieta and James and we were a great team. Everyone was doing very well and I think we all had fun. I canโt wait until our next lesson with coach Jamie on Wednesday. I really enjoyed when I scored a goal and my team was really proud of me. I feel thankful for all the coaches that spend their time on our PE lessons.
Great football skills Year 5. Maybe some of you could play for QPR when you are older (or other football teams!)?
