This morning Year 2 performed their fantastic assembly all about The Great Fire of London.
They took us back to 1666 to Thomas Farrinerโs bakery to the start of the fire and explained the ways King Charles II ordered people to pull down houses to stop the spread of the fire. They introduced us to Samuel Pepys and his diary which is a very important primary source that tells us the events of the fire. There was lots of amazing singing (with a special musical performance using boom whackers!) and everyone in the audience enjoyed it!
Well done Year 2!

The Year 2 Great Fire of London assembly on Friday morning was absolutely FANTASTIC!! Well done and thank you to you all for teaching us about this famous historical event in such an exciting and interesting way! Apart from the great acting, confident and clear lines, superb catchy songs and fabulous costumes, we really liked the way the Y2 children organised themselves and helped each other with the microphones, instruments and turn taking. You were so grown up! We can’t wait for the next one!
It was a really lovely assembly to perform and I liked making everybody laugh with my comedy wink! It’s funny to imagine what Thomas Farriner would think if he knew that 357 years after the Great Fire of London, children are STILL acting out his role in starting the fire! I think he would feel very, very, very embarrassed and sorry!
I loved wearing my own clothes because it was fun. It was really fun our assembly because I really had lots of fun. It was great.
The Great Fire of London was very dangerous and I loved learning that people helped each other and I think we should all help each other every day.
Thank you Miss Forster-Adams for teaching us about it and work on the assembly, I loved it. I enjoyed saying my lines nice and clear.

Thank you for our topic about the Great fire of London. In our assembly I learnt from Tancrede that houses were made so close together that they could touch each other. Honey and Erin shook hands to show how close together they were.!
