While we sadly had to say goodbye to the Year 6 Pupil Chaplaincy Team members in July, five new pupils from Year 5 have joined St. Vincent’s Pupil Chaplaincy Team this year!
Here are your new Pupil Chaplaincy Team members:
In our weekly meetings this half term, the Pupil Chaplaincy Team have been thinking and discussing their role, how we can to strengthen the faith of our school and the Caritas Ambassadors project they will undertake this year.
The children have written some thoughtful responses about their responsibilities and wishes for the year ahead, here are some of their ideas:
SB: The role I have as part of the Pupil Chaplaincy Team is to be a role model to younger children. Through this role I would like to represent God and Jesus by following their footsteps. I would like to strengthen our school’s faith by talking more about Gospel readings in assemblies and by leading weekly prayers to classes every week.
PC: I believe this role is to help our fellow pupils in a moral and spiritual way, we can achieve this my listening to them and sharing ideas on how to solve problems. We can also pray with them and for them. I am ambassador of Jesus’ love foe everyone. Through this role I will strive to be a pupil who actively looks for opportunities to help others.
SP: An important part of our role is that if we see anyone upset at break time that we support them. Through this role I will try to be an ambassador of my school by leading by example. I will try to do this by treating others with respect, helping children to understand their faith and being kind to others. I will aim to be a messenger of God by being there for others.
In the new half term, the Pupil Chaplaincy Team will be implementing daily activities on the roof play ground and focusing more on the teachings of the Bible and Pope Francis as we prepare to think about the Social Action Project we would like to undertake in our local community as part of Caritas Ambassadors. The Pupil Chaplaincy Team have been carefully considering their role and responsibilities as ambassadors of St Vincent’s. A key part of the catholic life and ethos of our school is embedded within Catholic Social Teaching.
The Pupil Chaplaincy Team have been thinking about the pillars of Catholic Social Teaching, their meaning, the value they hold, how we can support and strengthen them within our school and how we can live out our faith and the Gospel messages.
The Caritas Ambassadors project the Chaplains will undertake this year will be focusing on the pillars: Community and Participation, and Option for the Poor. The Pupil Chaplaincy Team aim to strengthen and support a local charity, Food Cycle. Food Cycle is a safe space for all, that provide food and company for those in need. There is a Food Cycle centre in Marylebone that we hope to visit and support.
