We have had great fun in Reception today celebrating World Book Day 2024!
We started our day with a whole school assembly. We loved the parade where we got to show everyone all of our costumes!
After, we had a special storyteller workshop led by Helen Tozer. Helen focused on our whole school theme of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate factory.’ We went on an exciting adventure to the chocolate factory and joined in with lots of actions and sounds. We then had fun exploring the sensory chocolate factory and made different chocolate bars and sweets with our friends!
In the afternoon we opened up the Nursery and Reception classroom to participate in joint activities. We joined in with book day activities including making bookmarks and characters. The storyteller then joined us for some singing; we liked the chocolate songs!
At the end of the day we enjoyed a special family reading session and listened to our favourite stories.
What a fun filled day we have had!
Well done Reception with all of your fantastic costumes and effort during today’s celebrations!
What was your favourite part of the day?
My favourite book is Snail Brings the Mail about a snail who is very slow and gets stuck because of the seasons but he fights the weather and delivers the cards right on time because he has a tractor. I also love that the whole book rhymes.
I also love The Magic Porridge Pot because I love porridge with lots of gloopy honey and I like saying the magic words to make the pot fill with porridge”pot, cook, pot”.
World book day was lots of fun. A visitor came to nursery and reception, and reception got to play with chocolate playdough which I loved.
My favourite part of the day was the book fair because Miss Jones dressed up really good! 🎫 🍫 🤩
It was so much fun with the chocolate play dough because you can smell the chocolate but you can’t eat it. 🍫
I loved it when the storyteller sung us The Hot Chocolate song. 🎵
It was also so much fun reading a book with my baby sister and my mum. 📖
