Today Class 4 became experts in volcanoes and earthquakes. We visited the Natural History Museum, where we learnt all about the layers within our earth and how this causes the tectonic plates to move, resulting in earthquakes and volcanoes. We used a seismometer to measure the vibrations and interpreted the results on the graph. This is what scientists use to measure the vibrations to help them predict earthquakes and volcanoes.
We then had to help a town that lived near a volcano to know whether they should evacuate. We worked out what sort of volcano they lived near, measured the vibrations and decided that they should evacuate before the volcano exploded. Luckily we saved them just in time!
After the workshop, we explore the gallery and got to experience what it would be like in an actual earthquake! We have learnt so much, that they Natural History Museum gave Class 4 a special diploma!
