In our Art lessons, we have been creating paper mache volcanoes and painting them to make show what happens during an eruption.
Firstly, we had to make the volcanoes which wasn’t an easy task. We had to tape a water bottle in the middle of our cardboard and then scrunch up lots of newspaper and stick it around the bottle with tape in order to create a dome shape. This took a lot of newspaper and teamwork in our partners to achieve this! Then we had to mix PVA glue with water to create our paste and dip strips of newspaper in to put all over the scrunched up newspaper. The dipped newspaper strips felt slimy to touch and we had to be quick to layer it on otherwise it would stick to our hands! This would be the outer shell of our dome shape but we had to let it dry for a couple of days so that it would set and allow us to paint on it.
Then came the day Year 4 were most excited about-painting! We had to work with our partners to try and paint different parts of the volcano to represent an eruption.
Can work out which volcanoes are being shown on land or water?
Year 4, What do you think? What was your favourite part?
Thank you to the teachers who organised this!!!
