Our final topic for Summer 2 in Reception is…

Throughout this topic we will transport ourselves to the hot, leafy, rainy jungle where we will learn all about what lives there and compare this environment to our own.

To help us become real jungle explorers, we will listen to and talk about non-fiction books all about the jungle to help us develop a deep familiarity with new knowledge and vocabulary!

We would love to find out about what you already know about the jungle!

Answer the question below on our class blog…

What might you see and hear in the jungle?

We will share all of your responses in class which will create some fantastic discussions!

  1. In the jungle you could see sloths. I like sloths because they go gently on the trees but don’t jump. You might hear jaguars… i’m not sure what noise they make. Do you? You might see or hear parrots. I like parrots, parrots are colourful. I love the rainforest.

  2. My favourite animal is the lion king because he is the strongest animal in the jungle. I also love the cheetah because he is the fastest animal in the jungle even faster than a lion or an elephant. I also love the elephant because he is very big and strong like the lion. And elephants have the best memory and they never ever forget anything. Even, elephants don’t forget all about space. I also love the tiger because his eyes can glow in the dark. I also love parrots because they are colourful and I love the colours of the rainbow.

  3. My favourite jungle animals are giraffes, monkeys and elephants. I like giraffes because they have long necks, I like monkeys because they make a funny noise and they bang their chests. I like elephants the most because I saw some in real life with my cousin Noah on our family holiday in Sri Lanka last year.
